Frequently asked questions
General
You can call the office at 681-238-5238 and tell them your basic information (name, address, phone number, email, and insurance) or click here to request a call from the office. We need a short phone call to gather your name, email, phone number, address, and insurance information. Once the office schedules your appointment, you will be sent intake paperwork by email which you can sign in your online portal. If you prefer to fill out paperwork in person, you are welcome to drop by any office location and fill out the initial consents.
We will begin therapy by assessing your presenting problems, defining your needs, establishing your goals, and developing a plan to reach those goals. How we get there looks different for each person. It can be a process of talking together about what matters to you and your counselor sharing with you what they hear and see, or it can be using EMDR therapy in which we process traumatic memories and replace negative cognitions with more positive cognitions.
Some of the benefits of therapy include the relief of bodily tension and psychological stress, as well as dramatic and lasting shifts in understanding and insight. These shifts happen spontaneously as you learn more about what your body is telling you. You will experience a feeling of release and ease as you move into a space of knowing what is true and right for you.
Some signs that a child may need counseling include:
· Changes in behavior, mood, or appetite
· Excessive anxiety, worry or fear
· Difficulty with social interactions or friendships
· Academic struggles or change in school-performance
· Withdrawal from activities they once enjoyed
· Self-harming behaviors
· Physical symptoms not improving with the help of a doctor such as headaches or stomachaches
